Yes, we have to wait for CIR to die. Sooner the better, because once House Republicans start holding hearings on CIR, this slow death for CIR might stretch beyond July. Extended mockery of house legistlative process will leave us hanging in a limbo.
Once this CIR charade is over we can move a new bill with only legal immigration provisions through Senate. Hopefully, Democrats will regain House majority this November. Even if they don't, this will be a litmus test for house republicans who have been so vocal in supporting the streamlining of legal immigration.

you need to look at the money that you must have earned/saved and then be happy about it. also the system sucks but they made it that way for a purpose. US doesnot want a flood of immigrants and hence these quotas. ofcourse because of the strict system they had to face a bigger problem i.e. illegal immigration. In the end you need to realise that the only country which has open arms for you is your home country.
my friend correctly told me ..if uscis tells me that I have to go back ..I will pack in a day and go back. we know english and have computer skills, we will get a job anywhere in the world.
also focus on the positives ..for eg I am happy that because of these delays I didnt run and buy a house in usa (which is one of the worst investments that a person can make).

The relief for EB3 comes because a lot of EB2's/EB1's will be gone from the quota. So, if the queue is smaller, you get it faster. The way I look at it, we want the queue to be smaller.

Also, if you have an advanced degree from an acredited university outside US AND have been working for 3 years in a related field, you will also be exempt from the cap regardless of whether you are applying/have applied in EB2 or EB3 (believe me...you would think that people with advanced degrees would have applied in EB2...but there are cases where people have had to apply in EB3 category even with an advanced degree).

I filed my I-129 for H1B extension in March, 2008. It is almost 5 months. I haven't got my H1B extension approval yet.

I got some good news. I called uscis just now and got two receipt numbers, one for 485 and one for EAD. Checks not cashed yet. I don't have the receipt number for AP yet. So it seems that our box is not lost and they're processing them, though so slowly. My application arrived on 7/3 at NSC, received by R. William at 9:03am.
Hope every one of us will receive our receipts, EAD and AP asap.
Going by the most recent receipting update, very likely, our cases (especially July 3/R.William) got transferred from NSC(well beyond 07/03) to TSC(beyond 08/05 - the LUD date) to CSC(still working on 07/30). If you have a counter example, please post.

I filed on july 7th and still waiting.
My case little different, my 485 pending at Nebraska and I mailed EAD renewal at Texas (because I live in PA, per instructions in form).
Do you think my EAD will get stuck because of this? I hope I did right thing.

Let EB2 and Eb3 category move hand in hand they already gave some relief to EB2, now they should move EB-3, people are waiting whose priroty dates are Year 2002, but if a EB-2 just came on 2007 gets Green Card that is unfair, One year gap is ok between Eb-2 & EB-3 but not 5 years.
I personally believe there are limitations for IV or any other organisation to influence the Political and Economic force that are existing in this world nowadays. Even if we lobby even if we talk, even if we gather, if those kind of forces are not benefitted in the form of votes(for power)(lobbying economically also depends on the personality of that person who you want to influence) nothing solid is going to happen. That is the TRUTH. But TRUTH sometimes is undigestable and it hurts a lot, and especially people who is having an agenda it hurts a lot!
